Snowboarder Mans Hedberg suffers a spectacular fall during slopestyle qualification
The Swedish snowboarder Mans Hedberg suffered a spectacular fall during the slopestyle qualification, so he had to be taken off the track with a snow sled.
On the last jump of the first of his two runs, Hedberg lost control of his body in the air and fell violently into the snow, where he remained motionless for several seconds until assistance arrived.
Transferred in a sled functioning as a stretcher, the Swede later stood up and exited the track on his own, although he did not return to complete the second run.
The challenging conditions of the Phoenix Snow Park track had already caused some spectacular falls during the previous training sessions. As a result, Canadian world champion Laurie Blouin had to be hospitalized after a hard crash, while British contender Katie Ormerod suffered a hand fracture and an ankle fracture on consecutive days and will miss the Games.
