Due to the postponement of the start of the national championship, the Non-Amateur Football Association of Pichincha (AFNA) has established a hexagonal tournament to keep its associated clubs active. The tournament starts this Sunday at the Atahualpa stadium.

With the participation of Aucas, El Nacional, Liga de Quito, and Universidad Católica as representatives of Serie A, América from Serie B, and Deportivo Quito from the second category, AFNA has established the schedule of matches for the first edition of the Copa Pichincha, a competition that they plan to continue in future seasons to provide activity for their teams while they prepare for their annual activity.

"We aim for the teams to have football as planned, but especially to take the first step in recovering important and beloved tournaments that used to be held in the city," said Rodrigo Espinoza, president of AFNA.

This tournament will be played in three-match game sessions, and the first matchday has been scheduled for Sunday, February 11th at the Atahualpa stadium.

According to the schedule established yesterday in a meeting with the representatives of Pichincha clubs, the first round will start at 10:00 with the match between América and Universidad Católica. At 12:00, Deportivo Quito will face Aucas, and the prime time (14:00) will be reserved for the duel between El Nacional and Liga de Quito.

The remaining dates of the Copa Pichincha will be scheduled once the start of the national championship is determined, which has been postponed due to the legal dispute over television rights involving Ecuafútbol. (D)
