Eagles headlines deal with an illness

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. -- Some Philadelphia Eagles players are dealing with an illness as they prepare for Sunday's Super Bowl against the New England Patriots. Defensive tackle Tim Jernigan and cornerback Ronald Darby, both starters, missed Thursday's media session. Jernigan did not practice on Wednesday due to the same issue, and he experienced a similar situation last Friday.

Running back Kenjon Barner is going through the same issue, and even head coach Doug Pederson was a bit under the weather the weekend before their trip to Minneapolis.

"I'm already getting over it. It's like a cold. The whole team has it," acknowledged linebacker Mychal Kendricks, who later clarified that he didn't mean that literally everyone had it. "It has nothing to do with being here. I think it started last week. It's something we have to deal with. We'll be fine. It's not that big of a deal."

All 53 Eagles players enter the game in a good state of health from an injury standpoint. Jernigan was the only one who didn't practice on Wednesday. Jay Ajayi (ankle), Fletcher Cox (calf), and Dannell Ellerbe (hamstring) have all practiced without issues.

After the session, Pederson emphasized that Jernigan's issue "is a 24-hour thing."

The Eagles still have a few days to leave it all behind.

"It's that time of year. Nobody's dying," Kendricks said. "Everything's all good."
