Transfer of video surveillance devices complete, but none of them work
The Traffic Department received four units with surveillance cameras from the previous administration, but none of them work.
"Some of the patrol cars left by the previous administration do have cameras, but they don't work. We are working to get them repaired, as they are a very useful tool that reduces the possibility of corruption," said Pedro Luis Bernal, the person in charge of the department.
He indicated that they are also working with the Administrative Services area to install video surveillance equipment in the 31 patrol cars recently delivered to the department.
According to news reports from Milenio Laguna, in September 2015, the previous administration handed over five patrol cars with video surveillance equipment.
Two months later, it was reported on social media that the cameras were not working, and the then-director of the department, Ricardo Hamdan, denied it.
Security operation to be intensified for Santos game
Luis Bernal also informed that there will be a modification in the operation dynamics for the Santos Laguna matches today.
He detailed that an average of 70 traffic officers provide their service in the northeast area of Torreon during matches.
"Analyzing the situation from the previous game, we will make adjustments to the entrance and exit operation at the Territorio Santos Modelo. This involves opening two U-turns on the parking side, and they will only be available for exiting the game."
"The number of officers we use for this operation is 70, and we have different classifications for matches. Today's match is considered medium-risk, for lack of a better term, because we expect an attendance of 20,000 fans."
He added that they were able to clear that area in 40 minutes during the last game.
