The Peruvian referee Víctor Hugo Carrillo has been strongly criticized in Argentina for the blatant error he made in the first semi-final of the Copa Sudamericana between Libertad from Paraguay and Independiente de Avellaneda.

He didn't see it

"The only goal of Libertad in their almost only arrival to the area: Cardozo controls it with his forearm and scores. It was seen even in Russia, but Víctor Hugo Carrillo didn't see it and Libertad won the first semi-final 1-0," exploded the well-known Argentine journalist Jorge Barraza on his Twitter account.

Libertad from Paraguay barely won 1-0 against Independiente from Argentina at the Defensores del Chaco stadium in Asunción with about 12,000 people. The only goal of the match was scored by the experienced Paraguayan forward Oscar "Tacuara" Cardozo at 28 seconds into the game.

However, the former striker from Benfica, who was on his way to becoming the star of the match, was sent off in the 74th minute of the semi-final of the Copa Sudamericana for elbowing the Argentine defender Alan Franco from 'Rojo', a situation that added drama to the development of the match until the end.
