Bahía de Caráquez -
Tomorrow will be the 47th edition of the open water swimming crossing over the Chone River estuary, from San Vicente to Bahía de Caráquez.
Yesterday the competition kits were delivered, which consist of a t-shirt, a chip, and a swimming cap, while today the technical meeting will be held before the start of the race, scheduled for 10:00 AM.
Karen Ramírez, organizer of the event, said that a distance of 1,800 meters will be covered and approximately 400 athletes will participate, divided into 15 categories, including a category for individuals with special needs.
She highlighted that competitors from swimming clubs in Quito, Guayaquil, Cuenca, Esmeraldas, and Manabí will come.
Cristian Ordóñez, captain of the Port of Bahía de Caráquez, added that the departure time will be just before high tide, so the ideal conditions will be present for the swimmers to avoid any issues with ocean currents.
Iván Enderica holds the fastest competition time with 18.30 minutes. (D)
