Santos Laguna and United Way formalize alliance.

Club Santos Laguna formalized its alliance with Fondo Unido-United Way Mexico.

Club Santos Laguna formalized its alliance with Fondo Unido-United Way Mexico.

Yesterday at noon at the TSM, Santos Laguna and Fondo Unido-United Way Mexico formalized the alliance they established weeks ago, in order to strengthen their social responsibility programs and have a greater impact on vulnerable communities inside and outside the country.

"A comprehensive program was designed to have activations with volunteers and allies to strengthen the programs of both institutions and reach all children and young people."

At the Orlegi Auditorium, Santos Laguna president Alejandro Irarragorri was accompanied by Diana García, national director of Fondo Unido, Alfonso Villalba, a member of the Board of Trustees, as well as coach José Manuel de la Torre.

For this Apertura 2017 tournament, Fondo Unido-United Way Mexico has a strategic ally in terms of social responsibility, a relationship that began years ago by combining the 'Vive Unido con Guerreros de Corazón' model, present on the team's jersey to enhance its presence.

Alejandro Irarragorri commented: "It has been a week full of various symbols, on the one hand we have the Guerreros de Corazón program as a social program of Santos, which has been carrying out its activities for the community for 10 years now."

"Orlegi celebrated four years since announcing the acquisition of the TSM and Santos, now we have the opportunity to share this announcement to take the alliance between Fondo Unido and Santos to the next level."

"In 2006 I had the opportunity to take the reins and the two main pillars that I was very clear about with my team were, first, that we should work on the essence of this Club based on its fans and strength, as there was no solid guiding thread, since every time there was a relevant change, the team was fragile, going through tough moments, beyond playoffs, championships and whatever goal one sets."

"What we proposed was to generate solid foundations for that great fandom through this institution to be self-sustaining and for that, it required first-rate, solid infrastructure, in addition to strengthening its commercial, financial, operational and sports areas."

He pointed out that a great test came with the sale of Grupo Modelo, with which came the great challenge of demonstrating that the work being done was achieving results.

As the second pillar, the president mentioned that it was very clear that Santos had an important role as an ambassador from the region to the world, representing the essence of hardworking people, with adversities in a desert where a lot of value has been built with the sweat of every Lagunero who has fought for this land.

"That responsibility leads us to what Santos means in society, to excite people and invite them to overcome their fears, to overcome difficult moments, including security and economic issues, where Santos, based on its social program, has become a relevant actor through our players, collaborators, and fans."

Irarragorri highlighted that as part of that development, the Club began to undertake some actions, reaching the point where they have not only found an ally but a partner in all the work being done in the communities, so they aim to achieve what Santos seeks in terms of health and financial stability, which goes hand in hand.

"If we can gather more than 10 million donors they have in the world, they will have to correct their number because everything Santos does is on behalf of our players, we will surpass that figure."

"Orlegi celebrated four years since announcing the acquisition of the TSM and Santos, now we have the opportunity to share this announcement to take the alliance between Fondo Unido and Santos to the next level."

With this, they seek to use the platforms that Santos has with the relevance that soccer generates to make known what this means, aligning the Guerreros de Corazón programs with this volunteering, which will have a multiplying effect.

Diana García mentioned that this is the first alliance made with a soccer team and an organization.

"We fight every day to achieve financial stability, health, we appreciate Santos' trust, as allies we strengthen the Guerreros program, training players so they can bring tools and information to work in the communities, we seek social integration."

"A comprehensive program was designed to have activations with volunteers and allies to strengthen the programs of both institutions and reach all children and young people."
