Thiago Tirante (Argentina, 22 years old, #111) made his debut with a victory at the Challenger de Malaga (Spain) which offers 125 points for the world ranking and has a prize money of €145,000.
The Argentine got rid, in his first match of the tournament, of the Belarusian Illya Ivashka (#175) with a resounding 6-3 and 6-2. This way, he advanced to the second round where he will face the winner of the match between Maxime Janvier (#397) and Maximilian Marterer (#125).
However, beyond Tirante's participation, there is another Latin American who will be present at the Málaga Open. We are talking about the Colombian Daniel Galán (#90) who will play this next Tuesday against the Frenchman Hugo Grenier (#213).
The Challenger de Malaga has been held since the 2022 season and its first champion was the Frenchman Constant Lestienne. Last year, the Frenchman was crowned after defeating the Ecuadorian Emilio Gómez in the final.
