Iga Swiatek
On Monday, May 30, Iga Swiatek secured her 32nd consecutive victory at Roland Garros, advancing to the quarterfinals. The world number one is aiming for her second title in Paris, following her victory in the 2020 edition, and her sixth consecutive title this season.
Early in the morning (in Peru), the Polish tennis player defeated Qinwen Zheng with scores of 6-7 (5/7), 6-0, and 6-2. The 19-year-old Chinese player was injured and played the match since the second set.
Swiatek, who turned 21 on Tuesday, May 31, is the only female player in the top 10 to reach the quarterfinals of the French Open.

The young tennis player arrived in Paris with five titles in 2022 (Qatar, Indian Wells, Miami, Rome, and Stuttgart) and a winning streak of 29 matches. Since 2000, only Venus (35) and Serena Williams (34) have achieved better winning streaks than Swiatek's 32 consecutive victories, which equal the record set by Belgian player Justine Henin.

In the next phase of the Roland Garros, Swiatek will face American player Jessica Pegula, who is currently ranked 11th in the WTA rankings and defeated Romanian player Irina Begu in the round of 16. Barbora Krejcikova, Maria Sakkari, Paula Badora, and Anett Kontaveit (the top players) have already been eliminated from the tournament.
