Lancaster County's Casey Kaufhold did not advance in her quest for a women's team Olympic archery medal early Sunday morning.
The Conestoga Valley graduate and her United States teammates, Catalina Gnoriega and Jennifer Mucino, fell to Taiwan in the 1/8 elimination round at Esplanade des Invalides in Paris. The Taiwanese team of Chiu Yi-Ching, Lei Chien-Ying and Li Tsai-Chi scored a 5-1 decision, and advanced to a quarterfinal-round match against Korea.

In other elimination-round results early Sunday, the Netherlands (Quinty Roeffen, Gaby Schloesser and Laura van der Winkel) defeated France (Lisa Barbelin, Amelie Cordeau and Caroline Lopez) 6-0; Indonesia (Diananda Choirunisa, Syifa Nurafifah Kamal and Rezza Octavia) topped Malaysia (Syaqiera Mashayikh, Nurul Azreena Mohamad Fazil and Ariana Nur Dania Mohamad Zairi) 5-3, and Germany (Katharina Bauer, Michelle Kroppen and Charline Schwarz) beat Britain (Penny Healey, Megan Havers and Bryony Pitman) 6-0.
In the next round later Sunday, the Netherlands will face India, Indonesia will meet China and Germany will take on Mexico. Semifinals and the bronze- and gold-medal matches will follow.
The men's team matches will be contested Monday, and the men's and women's individual brackets will begin Tuesday and carry on through the week.
Kaufhold, who is ranked fourth after qualifying, is next scheduled to compete in the 1/32 elimination round at 6:45 a.m. Thursday against Fatoumata Sylla (ranked 61st) of Guinea.
