Despite the bad weather, she maintained a great pace throughout the race, with a partial time of 36:49 for the first 10 km and 54:37 for the remainder, making her unreachable for the other competitors. This way, she secured the third gold medal for our country.

The national athlete has become one of the great figures worldwide in this athletics discipline. With her double gold medal in the 2022 Eugene World Championships in the 20 and 35 km, plus a silver medal in Budapest in August 2022, García has consistently left a great impression.

Through an official statement, Santiago 2023 announced that the times of the 20 km women's race walking competition have been nullified, as only approximately 17.18 km were run.
