Farewell to Nadal in the quarterfinals of the Masters 1000 in Rome
Spanish player Rafael Nadal, nine-time champion, lost this Saturday by 6-2 and 7-5 against Argentine Diego Schwartzman, ranked 15th in the world, and said goodbye in the quarterfinals of the Masters 1000 in Rome, of which he had won the last two editions.
Nadal, who returned to compete in Rome after six and a half months away from the court, had won the previous nine matches against Schwartzman, but this Saturday he surrendered in two hours and three minutes in the face of an Argentine tennis performance.
Schwartzman, who reached his second consecutive semifinal at the Foro Itálico, will fight for the final this Sunday against Canadian Denis Shapovalov, who eliminated Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov. The other semifinal will be played by Serbian Novak Djokovic and Norwegian Casper Ruud. EFE
