THE DRAW:

The Spanish Garbiñe Muguruza, a debutant in the WTA Finals, has valued her year as "fantastic" but has warned of her intention to "give the last effort" in Singapore, where the top eight players of the season will compete between October 25 and November 1.

The 22-year-old player born in Venezuela, second in the Race to Singapore, has stated in declarations collected by her communication team that she arrives "with great enthusiasm" to the Masters. "Everything is new, but I know that so far the year has been fantastic and I want to make a last effort to see if I can maintain my Asian streak and do well here," she said.

Placed in the white group with the German Angelique Kerber and the Czechs Petra Kvitova and Lucie Safarova, the Spanish player assured that "any group was going to be very difficult."

"It's the first time I'm going to play a league competition and besides I got three left-handed players in the group, so Sam Sumyk (her coach, who is also left-handed) is going to have a lot of work on the court these days," she joked.

Garbiñe Muguruza also emphasized the difficulty of each match in Singapore.

"Each match is like a Premier final, but I want to compete again. I have enough time to get used to the court and playing doubles (for the second consecutive season with her compatriot Carla Suárez) will also help me in that adaptation," she said.

The Spanish duo will face the US Bethanie Mattek-Sands and the Czech Lucie Safarova; the Taiwanese sisters Yung-Jan and Hao-Ching Chan; and the French-Slovenian pair Caroline Garcia and Katarina Srebotnik in the doubles competition.
