Continues hearing for the crime of concussion against former comptroller Carlos Pólit and his son in the Odebrecht case
For the morning of this Tuesday, it is scheduled to continue the hearing, which started on Monday, for the crime of concussion against former comptroller Carlos Pólit, as the author, and his son John Pólit, as an accomplice, at the National Court of Justice.
The accusation was presented by the Prosecutor's Office, after nine months of investigation, and in this trial hearing, 40 experts and witnesses must intervene.
The acting attorney general, Pául Pérez, accuses Carlos Pólit of having "requested" $10.1 million from Odebrecht when he was comptroller, for the elimination of 34 items for more than $70 million related to the San Francisco project. In addition, for delivering favorable reports from the Comptroller's Office to the Brazilian company regarding projects such as the Pacific Refinery-earth movement, the Pascuales-Cuenca Pipeline, the La Esperanza Aqueduct, and Manduriacu.
Meanwhile, John Pólit, prosecutor Pérez and the private accusations of the Prosecutor's Office and the Electric Corporation of Ecuador EP indicate him as an accomplice, because he would be related to the case by apparently placing money in companies Cosani from Panama, and Plastiquim from Ecuador, simulating credits from the company Venture Overseas, $1.7 million, part of the resources obtained through bribes transferred by Klienfeld, an offshore company related to Odebrecht.
CAL decides which commission of the Assembly will process economic law
The Council of Legislative Administration (CAL) plans to determine this Tuesday which commission of the Legislature will analyze the Organic Law for Productive Development, Investment Attraction, Job Creation, Stability and Fiscal Balance, which was sent with the character of emergency in economic matters, on May 24 by the Government.
Pabel Muñoz (Revolución Alfarista), president of the Economic Regime Commission, stated that not necessarily with the reduction and transfer of incentives to the private sector, employment is immediately generated.
Eliseo Azuero, from the Nacional Integration bloc, said that he has the highest expectations for the legislation, as in his opinion it refers to reactivation of production and job creation.
Presentation on the state of human rights in Ecuador
This Tuesday, at 3:00 p.m., José Miguel Vivanco, Americas director for Human Rights Watch (HRW), is scheduled to hold a press conference where he will present on the state of human rights in Ecuador.

Municipality delivers remodeled church in Puerto Hondo
The Municipality of Guayaquil inaugurates today at 5:00 p.m. the rebuilt church of San Martín de Porres, located in Puerto Hondo. The temple underwent improvement and masonry works.
As part of the executed works, the reconstruction of the main nave with an area of 200 square meters, the construction of the new sacristy and parochial office with their respective bathrooms and warehouses, two classrooms for catechesis, sanitary facilities for the parishioners, dining room and kitchen for the food service of children and young people; in addition to the implementation of flowerpots in the main courtyard.
