Mexican delegation continues to collect medals at the Taipei 2017 Universiade
The Mexican delegation continued with its medal haul at the Taipei 2017 Universiade and on Sunday accumulated a gold thanks to the remarkable performance of Raúl Pereda, who climbed to the top of the podium in golf's individual category.
Pereda, after three rounds, totaled 200 points and -16 under par, having delivered a solid performance on the green of the Sunrise Golf & Country Club with 67 points and -5 under par.
The podium was completed by Japanese Kazuki Higa with 202 points and -14, and the Chinese Taipei representatives, Yung - Hua Liu and Chun An Yu, both with 207 points and -9 under par, took the bronze medals.
In this individual category, Álvaro Ortiz and Luis Gerardo Garza finished in ninth and twenty-first place, respectively.
Pereda de la Huerta and Mexico also added another medal in this discipline, but this time in the team event, taking home the silver. Raúl Pereda, Gerardo Garza Morfín, and Álvaro Ortiz Becerra obtained 530 points, securing second place.
Japan won the gold medal with 527 points, while the bronze went to Chinese Taipei with 536, marking the end of golf activities at this global Universiade.
