Argentinian Juan Martin del Potro easily won his second round match against Dutchman Robin Haase, defeating him in two sets, 6-2 and 6-4 in 1 hour and 21 minutes. Del Potro will face Swiss player Roger Federer in the third round.

With an excited crowd cheering him on at every point during the night and hundreds of "Vamos Delpo" chants echoing in Miami once again, Del Potro showed great physical condition and presented himself as a candidate to beat Federer in this clash between two veterans who have returned to their highest level.
Del Potro overcomes first obstacle
Before the highly anticipated match that all Argentinians and tennis fans were looking forward to after the Miami Masters 1000 draw was announced, del Potro, ranked number 34, had to overcome a first obstacle that wasn't really a challenge.
Dutchman Haase quickly faded in the first set, with Del Potro breaking his serve twice and winning 6-2, putting himself closer to his goal.
In the second set, Del Potro had more trouble dismantling his opponent, but in the eighth game and with his winning forehands, he managed to break Haase's serve and secure his first victory in Miami.

Halfway through the second set, the crowd in Crandon Park's center court held their breath when Del Potro slipped and fell to the ground, but the Argentinian, who has a history of injuries, quickly got up without any major issues.
Del Potro defeats Haase for the third time this year
Del Potro has now beaten the 48th ranked Haase for the third time this year. Del Potro had two tough battles against Novak Djokovic despite losing (Indian Wells and Acapulco), and his best performance so far was reaching the semifinals in Delray Beach.
