Argentina lost to France (4-3) and says goodbye to the 2018 World Cup
Argentina lost to France (4-3) and said goodbye to the 2018 World Cup in the round of 16. Disappointed by the result, two players announced that they will no longer continue in the national team. The first one was Javier Mascherano and, minutes later, Lucas Biglia announced that he will not wear the Albiceleste shirt again.
In statements in the mixed zone, the midfielder lamented the way his team left the World Cup, but admitted that it is time to make way for the future. He doesn't feel like continuing.
"We leave with a lot of sadness, it's not the way we wanted it, that's football, for many it's the end. Many of us have to step aside, be honest with ourselves, we have given everything so far, both outside and inside, now a new generation is coming," said Biglia.
"I hope that the kids who have to come first of all can work with tranquility and take Argentina where it deserves," added the AC Milan midfielder.
