Lima ignited the flame of the Parapan American Games on Friday with an artistic spectacle about the cultures of Ancient Peru, in an opening day where the first medals were awarded in table tennis.
In the opening ceremony at the National Stadium, a totem was exhibited, built based on three multicolored obelisks made in the likeness of the famous Tello Obelisk of the pre-Inca Chavín de Huántar culture, from northern Peru.
During the nighttime show, in the presence of 40,000 spectators, including Peruvian President Martín Vizcarra, the Parapan American flame was ignited, celebrating its sixth edition.
