Boston River receives Nacional at Estadio Centenario this Thursday October 19, starting at 20:15, for the sixth round of the Clausura Tournament, and can be watched on Star+.
Nacional plays with the mission of not losing ground in the standings and the challenge of equaling the team's best record by winning its third consecutive game. The last time the tricolores won three consecutive games in the Uruguayan Championship was in April under the leadership of Álvaro Gutiérrez.
That month, Nacional had a series of victories that they have not repeated and can only match six months later if they manage to defeat Boston River tonight. The best streak for Álvaro Gutiérrez's team started on April 14 when they beat Fénix 4-0 at the Parque Central.
On the 24th, the tricolores defeated Wanderers 1-0 at the Parque Viera. And five days later, they beat La Luz 3-0. In the following match, Nacional drew 2-2 with Defensor Sporting at the Franzini. In the midst of those victories, which correspond to the Apertura Tournament, the tricolores had also defeated Independiente Medellín on April 19 in the Copa CONMEBOL Libertadores.
Coach Álvaro Gutiérrez acknowledged in his last press conference the difficulty the team has had in stringing together a series of consecutive victories: "The truth is that it has been difficult for us to win away matches, which is not the case here (referring to the victory against Cerro), but it was difficult for us to win two consecutive games and luckily we were able to do it."
Now they are going for the third, which would allow them to equal their best streak of the season.
