Say goodbye
This Friday begins the last date of the Intermediate, which already has Defensor Sporting as the finalist of group A, while Liverpool and Cerro are the ones with a chance to access that instance for group B.
In the previous date, the black and blues tied with Plaza Colonia and Cerro won against Deportivo Maldonado, with which the ones from Cuchilla lost the advantage they held: they were two points above the light blue and whites, leaving them with a chance to reach the final.
Precisely, Liverpool will open the stage on Friday afternoon with a visit to Fénix from 15.00 at Parque Capurro. It's simple: with a victory, they would assure themselves a place in the final with Defensor, leaving Cerro excluded from the fight. The team from the villa will play with seen results, because they close the stage on Monday at 19.00 at Tróccoli against Plaza Colonia.
If Liverpool doesn't win, the possibilities open up. If the black and blue team draws and Cerro wins, both will have 14 points. In that case, the goal difference will be taken into account, an aspect in which Liverpool has the advantage with a +6 balance, while Cerro has +2. If, on the other hand, the result is a defeat for Liverpool, the three points will give Cerro the qualification to the final. It is clear that if the light blue and white team doesn't win, even if Liverpool has not triumphed, they will be the finalists. Pure mathematics.
The rest of the others
Regardless of what may happen with group B and its finalist, the points at stake are key for two fronts: the Annual Table and the relegation average. In this last one, the fateful one, the other Friday game enters, which will have La Luz and Montevideo City Torque wanting to win because they are direct rivals.
Saturday, Sunday, and Monday will distribute the remaining matches. In the Saturday confrontations, precisely, the important thing will be to add points for the Annual, which at this point is already an unavoidable reference because entering the top eight is key, as a first step, and fighting for the championship is what everyone wants.
Championship is what Nacional seeks, the current champion of the Uruguayan league. The tricolores are not in their best moment and they are third in the Annual after the tough defeat of the past date. Now, on Saturday, they will have a rematch at home when they receive Cerro Largo, another team that is fighting among the top positions, as usual.
The main event will be on Sunday when the first and second of the Annual face each other: Peñarol and Defensor Sporting, respectively. The interesting match will be at Campeón del Siglo.
While the definition sharpens, the teams are carrying out the first negotiations for the transfer market prior to the Clausura Tournament, and various rumors of arrivals and departures of the teams are circulating.
