After an intense Clausura Tournament, this Saturday, November 4th, the first chapter of the two that will define the champion of the Liga 1 Betsson 2023 will be played. Universitario de Deportes will host Alianza Lima at 8:00 p.m. at the Monumental stadium, which will be completely full. In that sense, this Thursday the National Referees Commission (CONAR) confirmed the complete team that will officiate in the Ate venue.
Kevin Ortega will be the main referee, while Michael Orué and Jesús Sánchez will be his assistants. On the other hand, Alejandro Villanueva and Diego Jaimes will be the fourth and fifth referees, respectively. Although it was known a few days ago that this team would be in charge of the first leg final, it was only confirmed on November 2nd through CONAR's social media.
Regarding the video assistant referee, Jordi Espinoza will be the main one, while Raúl López and Sebastián Lozano will be the assistants. Finally, César Escano will be the Quality Manager, and Silvia Reyes the advisor. It is expected that this group of referees will do a good job and that the first final will not be tainted by any controversy, as has happened throughout the season.
The last time Kevin Ortega refereed a Universitario match was in the 0-0 draw against Sporting Cristal on Matchday 13 of the Clausura 2023. Likewise, the last time he was in charge of an Alianza Lima match was in the 0-1 victory over Deportivo Municipal, on the second matchday of this year's Clausura.
Another detail to take into account is that there is a recent commitment between 'blanquiazules' and 'cremas' where Ortega was the main referee, which was played on April 17, 2022, for Matchday 10 of the Apertura 2023. On that occasion, in the match played at the Monumental stadium, Alianza Lima won 1-4 with goals from Jairo Concha (2), Arley Rodríguez, and Hernán Barcos; a own goal by Pablo Míguez put the 1-2 partial.
