The poor start of the Peruvian National Team in the current edition of the South American Qualifiers has caused Juan Reynoso to be the center of criticism. However, the national coach was comforted by the support he received from the team he leads, with Paolo Guerrero being one of those who demonstrates that the national athlete can compete in the most difficult tournaments. The most recent example is the Copa Sudamericana championship that he achieved with LDU de Quito (defeating Fortaleza in the final). In the midst of all this, the national coach showered praise on the 'Depredador' and explained why he was substituted in the second half against Argentina.

"After the match, six or seven players showed me their support. I am moved and proud of the example that Paolo Guerrero is; this is good for all of us in the group because he has been our flag in recent years," the 'Ajedrecista' said in a press conference.

On the other hand, Juan Reynoso acknowledged that Paolo Guerrero was not in his best physical shape for the last match of the Peruvian National Team in the qualifiers (we lost 2-0 to Argentina, at the National Stadium), so he considered it appropriate not to give him 90 minutes of play and, in that way, prevent him from getting injured.

"Paolo (Guerrero) didn't come back to the field because I saw him very physically diminished and the one who was hurt the most was me. It wouldn't have been good for the second half and maybe he would have missed the final (against Fortaleza, in the Copa Sudamericana) that he fortunately won on Saturday," said the national coach.

Reynoso on the present of the Peruvian National Team

Juan Reynoso regretted not having a dream start to the qualifiers with the Peruvian National Team (we have one point and are in penultimate place), but he is also aware that the tournament is the most difficult in the world, so he does not shy away from the responsibility of being the leader of the team that did not show its best face in the first matches. Note that the next challenges will be against Bolivia and Venezuela, in La Paz and Lima, respectively.

"Those of us in football always miss this adrenaline. We always want to win, but the secret is how you transmit it with strength and you have to face it. If this doesn't happen to us, which would be ideal, we can't be in football," added the coach of the Peruvian team.

The coach of the Peruvian National Team also highlighted the importance of achieving good results, so he will work hard with the team to end the year in the best possible way, having to visit Bolivia and host Venezuela, one of the revelations of the competition.

"Calmness equals results. I have historically seen where I have lived, in the pre-match no one tells you what can happen, after the match they do. We are aware that we have stopped doing things in terms of the game and the key is to reinvent ourselves to find results. We are aware that we are people who live off results, which bring tranquility," concluded.
