The First Provincial Corporate Criminal Prosecutor of Chiclayo Requests Five Years of Prison for Agustín Lozano Saavedra, President of the Peruvian Football Federation
The First Provincial Corporate Criminal Prosecutor of Chiclayo requested five years of prison for Agustín Lozano Saavedra, current president of the Peruvian Football Federation, for the alleged commission of the crime of tax fraud in the form of income concealment between the years 2010 and 2014, while serving as mayor of the district of Chongoyape, in Lambayeque.
According to the file No. 14665-2022-0-1706-JR-PE-09, "there is evidence of tax crime, the tax not paid, the modality, the period not paid, and the damage caused by the head of the FPF when serving as mayor of the District Municipality of Chongoyape. During this time, his assets increased suddenly, which raised suspicions among the authorities."
In response to this, the Public Prosecutor's Office presented a series of documents that support the request, such as a report of evidence of tax crime, which includes the dates when taxes were not paid to SUNAT, financial transactions, copies of savings accounts, and payment receipts.
WHAT DOES THE PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE REQUEST?
The Prosecutor's Office requests five years of imprisonment, a fine of 2,281.25 soles, and a "six-month disqualification to exercise, on their own or through a third party, a profession, trade, art, or industry that includes contracting with the State." Additionally, they seek a civil compensation of 356,219 soles for patrimonial damage and 5,000 soles for non-patrimonial damage.
