Jhonnier, who plays as a winger, was born in Colombia in 2004, but at the age of two, he arrived in Peru with his father, who signed for Sport Boys del Callao to have great campaigns and later join Alianza Lima. Because of this, the heir started playing in the youth academies of different Peruvian teams.

In 2017, he joined Deportivo Municipal at the age of twelve. Two years later, he set the record for being the youngest player to participate in the Reserves Tournament of Peruvian football. In 2021, he made his debut in the Liga 1 under the guidance of Franco Navarro, the coach who had previously managed his father at San Martín. He was 16 years and 131 days old when he made his appearance, breaking the record set by Matías Lazo as the youngest player in the top division.

In recent years, he has had a brief stint in Spanish football, playing for various teams and gaining experience in his career. He is currently training as a guest at Sporting Cristal, but at the same time, he managed to obtain Peruvian citizenship in order to avoid occupying a foreign player quota in the Liga 1, as well as being eligible for the national team.
