Fans accuse Boluarte of 'jinxing' the match

After the 'Blanquirroja' defeat against the Brazilian team in the second round of the 2026 Qualifiers, a large group of bicolor fans gathered outside the Estadio Nacional to protest against the Head of State, Dina Boluarte, who had attended the match.

At the end of this sporting event, a conglomerate of attendees began to chant against the government of the president. The National Police of Peru (PNP) had to intervene to disperse the crowd.

"The people reject you" was one of the most chanted phrases.

A series of internet users blamed President Dina Boluarte for 'jinxing' the Peruvian national team. They allege that her visit to the players' hotel days before the match and her presence in the Estadio Nacional brought 'bad luck'.

As is well known, the president went to the hotel where the Peruvian players were staying last Sunday, accompanied by her premier, Alberto Otárola. In this meeting, the coach Juan Reynoso, the players Pedro Gallese and Paolo Guerrero, and Federation officials were present.

"My support and that of all Peruvians for you in this dream of achieving the set objective. Millions of Peruvians trust in your ability and dedication, the same that you showed us against Paraguay," said the president after her visit.
