Beyond his 39 years, Hernán Barcos -week after week- makes it clear his relevance in Alianza Lima; for example, he has already scored 10 goals in the current edition of Liga 1 Betsson and in the last match he was key with an assist in the duel against Alianza Atlético de Sullana (Aldair Rodríguez scored with a header). With those figures - and the precedent of the bicampeonato - more than one fan at the blanquiazul store worried about the future of the 'Pirata': the '9', therefore, referred to his renewal and also to the future of Christian Cueva, who ends his contract with Matute at the end of the month.
"I am going through the process of becoming a national, hoping that the documents can come out this year. I haven't talked about the renewal because my contract hasn't ended yet," said the striker of the current bicampeón of Peruvian soccer, in an interview with RPP.
Hernán Barcos also took the time to talk about Christian Cueva's continuity in Alianza Lima, since his contract expires in less than a week, which puts in suspense whether he will continue to be part of the squad for the final stretch of the competition or not.
"They haven't informed us about that. Christian (Cueva), surely, is looking for his renewal. Hopefully he can stay. His presence is important for us. We are hoping he can stay and fulfill his dream of becoming champion," he said.
Hernán Barcos also spoke about the accusation received by Ángelo Campos, after being accused of physically assaulting the mother of his child. Note that the Public Ministry, through its official Twitter account, announced that the Fifth Provincial Prosecutor's Office Specialized in Violence against Women requested the immediate initiation of proceedings against the goalkeeper of Alianza Lima (see note here).
"We haven't been able to speak (with Ángelo Campos). I don't know anything about the situation, but I understand that justice will resolve it. Also, I am not one to judge because I don't know what happened," concluded the Argentine striker of the blanquiazul team.
