Peruvian national team renews sponsorship agreement

In a press conference, the Peruvian national team announced the renewal of its partnership with one of its main sponsors, which was attended by Christian Cueva and Carlos Zambrano, generating diverse opinions on the matter.

Backus, which manages one of the most popular beer brands in the country, has renewed its partnership with Christian Cueva. 'Aladino' received criticism mainly due to the moments that overshadowed his sports career.

One of the first to speak out was Chilean Adolfo Hidalgo, who referred to it as "poetic" that Christian Cueva, the midfielder of Alianza Lima, is the image of this alcoholic beverage.

"It is poetic that he is the face of a beer campaign," wrote popular Chilean account 'chileno.pe' in Erick Osores' post about the news that came from the Videna regarding the Peruvian national team.

But he was not the only one, as several users shared their opinions and criticized that 'Aladino' is part of this campaign, considering his past.

The Peruvian national team will face Paraguay and Brazil in the beginning of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, on Thursday, September 7th, and Tuesday, September 12th, respectively. The call-up by Juan Reynoso will be announced on Monday, August 28th.
