The forward of FBC Melgar, Bernardo Cuesta, analyzed the possibility of being called up by coach Juan Reynoso to the Peruvian National Team and face the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers in the absence of Gianluca Lapadula, who will be out for three months due to an injury.
For the player, the desire to be called up is there, but it doesn't depend on him.

"I can't say anything, if I can or can't, if they will consider me or not, I work at Melgar to do things right here, if it happens, welcome. I always support the National Team and especially the coaching staff that I know," said the attacker to the media.
"I don't know if I can or not, I don't know, I'm training here. What player wouldn't want to represent the National Team in a country that gave me a lot, but I also know that there are many young players ahead of me who are doing things well," he added after Melgar's victory over Sport Boys (2-0).
On the other hand, Bernardo Cuesta referred to the good moment that Melgar is going through in the Liga1 Betsson after the important away win against the 'rosados', which puts them at the top of the standings.
"The team played a great game and these are three important points to keep moving forward. It's a step we took in this tournament, you're never at ease, you always have to keep improving and growing. We faced a difficult team but we were able to achieve the victory we wanted," he pointed out.
