After Sporting Cristal's elimination from the Copa Sudamericana, coach Tiago Nunes was asked about Washington Corozo's competitive moment. In that sense, the Brazilian coach gave an answer that caught the attention of fans and journalists.
YOU CAN SEE: What is Washington Corozo's future after Sporting Cristal's elimination?
First, the coach of the bajapontino team explained that the Ecuadorian winger shows all his potential when he has space to apply his speed, but he emphasized that there is another player who offers better characteristics on the left wing.
"It's a good question because in the end they have different characteristics. I see Washington a little slower, his potential is seen at its maximum when he has more space to apply his speed, when he is one-on-one, but it reminds me that someone who was there also had a lot of participation but with another characteristic," he said in a press conference.
Furthermore, he explained that, despite being one of the fastest along with Joao Grimaldo, he feels that if Corozo starts as a starter, he will lose the surprise that another player offers him on the field.
"We have two high-speed players in the squad, Grimaldo and Corozo, if I put them both to play together, perhaps I won't have another player with that characteristic to play in space. So we have to look for that," he explained.
