In June, a total of 335 electrified vehicles were sold, according to Sunarp through the Automotive Association of Peru (AAP). This represented a growth of 74.5% compared to the same month in 2022.

Hybrid vehicles (HEV) continue to lead the way. With 1,798 sales, they accounted for 89.7% of electric vehicles sold in Peru. They were followed by electric cars (BEV) with 110 placements (5.5% of the segment) and plug-in hybrids (PHEV) with 96 sales (4.8%).

In the first half of 2023, a total of 2,004 electric cars were sold in our country. This represented a growth of 68.4% compared to the sales during the same period in 2022.

"The positive performance in the sale of electrified vehicles is due to the increasing presence of brands with various models entering this segment of the automotive market," commented Alberto Morisaki, Manager of Economic Studies and Statistics of the Automotive Association of Peru (AAP).

Morisaki also revealed that despite the increase in the sale of this type of vehicles in the first six months of the year, their penetration remains low, slightly above 2%.
