The experienced 39-year-old striker has never played a game in the national First Division, so this could be the perfect opportunity for him to have his "last dance" in our country. If he considers that idea, he wouldn't be the only national team member to return to a team in the championship after the participation of the Peruvian National Team in Russia 2018. Check out all the cases in the following article.

Some World Cup players returned to Liga 1

Of the 23 players called up to the last World Cup of the Peruvian National Team, Guerrero could be the tenth to return to play in Peruvian football. The first repatriated player was Alberto Rodríguez, who as soon as the World Cup ended (2018) left Junior de Barranquilla to sign for Universitario de Deportes. From there, he went through Alianza Lima (2020) and Alianza Atlético (2021) to be without a team since 2022.

The one who followed in the footsteps of the 'Mudo' was Pedro Gallese, who in 2019 defended the white and blue goal before being the only one to return abroad (Orlando City). Christian Ramos (Melgar 2019), Jefferson Farfán (Alianza Lima 2021), Yoshimar Yotún (Sporting Cristal 2022), Andy Polo (Universitario 2022), Paolo Hurtado (Alianza Lima 2022), Christian Cueva (Alianza Lima 2023), and Edison Flores (Universitario 2023) complete this list.

Could Paolo Guerrero play in Liga 1?

The future of Paolo Guerrero is uncertain at the moment. However, Alianza Lima fans have hope of seeing him with the white and blue jersey this year. If 'PG9' wants to continue his footballing life in Liga 1, he will have to decide and make the contrarreloj operation as the transfer market ends next Thursday, July 13th.
