Why is July 23rd a holiday?

Recently, in the official newspaper El Peruano, Law 31822 was published, which formalizes the proposal made by Congress to establish July 23rd as a national holiday (Peruvian Air Force Day) and commemorate the sacrifice of hero José Abelardo Quiñones González during the conflict with Ecuador in 1941.

Will Thursday, July 27th be a holiday?

According to the publication in the official newspaper El Peruano, Thursday, July 27th will be declared a non-working day for the public sector. This measure is taken with the aim of creating a long weekend.

Difference between holiday and non-working day

Non-working days are dates decreed by the government. They are breaks that must be compensated by the employee, with prior agreement with their employer. They are mandatory for the public sector, while for private sector it is optional (to comply with them).

As for holidays, they are paid breaks that are not compensated. Keep in mind that refusing to provide services on a holiday cannot be a reason or cause for sanction.
