During Thursday afternoon, the Peruvian National Team departed to Seoul to begin preparations for the friendly matches against South Korea and Japan, which will be played on June 16 and 20, respectively (these are the last exams to arrive fully prepared for the start of the qualifiers, against Paraguay in Asunción). Before boarding the flight, the Peruvian winger, Edison Flores, spoke with the media and analyzed the current situation of the 'Blanquirroja' under the command of Juan Reynoso.
The idea of this new project with the 'Ajedrecista' is for Peru to accumulate points in the World Cup 2026 qualifiers from the first match, and thus avoid what happened in the previous process, where the team reacted very late. "We want to start the qualifiers on the right foot and earn as many points as possible with the national team," clarified the midfielder.
Although he has not played an official match since April 9, Edison Flores is optimistic about his physical condition and emphasized that he has been training well during these days at the Videna. "I have felt very good now that I have been training with the national team and physically I am very well," he added.
Finally, Flores touched on a topic that has been circulating in recent days and that, although it has been confirmed by Atlas - the club that owns his rights -, there is still no official announcement: his return to Universitario de Deportes. "There is still nothing with Universitario, I don't know exactly what is missing, my agent takes care of that," he pointed out.
When will the matches of the Peruvian National Team be?
The Peruvian National Team will train in Seoul from Sunday, June 11, and when the delegation is completed with the players who play abroad, Juan Reynoso will begin working on the scheme and variations that he will propose for these friendly matches in Asia. To date, the 'Cabezón' has coached six matches with the national team and these will be two interesting tests looking ahead to the qualifiers.
The match against South Korea is scheduled for Friday, June 16, starting at 6:00 a.m. (8:00 p.m. local time in Korea) and will be played at the Busan Asiad Main Stadium (Busan). On the other hand, the match against Japan is scheduled for Tuesday, June 20, starting at 4:55 a.m. (6:55 p.m. local time in Japan) and will take place at the Panasonic Stadium Suita (Osaka).
