Get to know all the details in the following note from Depor. At the beginning of each year, all Governments have the obligation to establish the official Calendar where official, unofficial, and other holidays are marked; which are important to know when there will be no mandatory work and when there will be extra payment if you have to work according to your workplace. For the month of June, the Congress of the Republic of Peru approved the inclusion of June 7th as an official holiday in commemoration of the "Battle of Arica and Flag Day." However, the question is whether this holiday counts for this year 2023 or starting from the next one, that is, in 2024.

June holidays and how much you get paid if you work

The remaining holidays in the month of June are the 28th and 29th. Those who work these days will receive two additional days of payment at the end of the month. It is not a triple payment, because, we reiterate, the payment for June 29th is already included in the normal monthly salary.

For example: if a worker receives 1,500 soles per month, their daily salary is equivalent to 50 soles (1,500 divided by 30 days).

By resting on June 29th, their salary at the end of the month will be 1,500 soles. They are paid the 50 soles for the holiday as if they had worked, even though they rested.

Will there be a holiday on Wednesday, June 7th, 2023?

It should be noted that, for now, June 7th, 2023 has not been officially declared a national holiday. According to César Puntriano Rosas in conversation with El Peruano newspaper, he stated that President Dina Boluarte has a period of 15 business days to promulgate or observe the proposal of the regulation. However, this never happened for this year, so it is not considered a holiday.

"It is important to mention that the president of the republic has 15 business days to promulgate the proposal of the regulation or observe it, which has not happened to date, so, we reiterate, there is still no new holiday," the specialist said about what could be the next national holiday.
