The goalkeeper of Sporting Cristal highlighted Renato Solís' great level in the goal for the team, but expressed his desire to take on the starting position.

The last eight unbeaten matches - both in the Liga 1 and in the Copa Libertadores - reflect in some way the good moment of Sporting Cristal: the blues are in third place in the Torneo Apertura, with 31 points (they even have the same score as Universitario but a disadvantage of two goals). Undoubtedly, this present is thanks to the variations that Tiago Nunes has made on his board and the security they have shown in their own field. And someone key in that task is Renato Solís.

In the midst of all this panorama, Alejandro Duarte spoke up: the goalkeeper was a key piece in the rimense goal last season, but this year he lost his starting position after an injury he suffered in the 'Tarde Celeste'; however, against Binacional he put on the gloves again and made it clear that he is at 100%. So, this is what he mentioned about the competition that exists for the '1' jersey in Rímac.

In an interview with the press, the goalkeeper stated that "the goalkeeper position is difficult because it doesn't allow you to rotate much or enter a game; I got injured and Renato has done very well". He also made it clear that he will continue to prepare to be called again.

"Obviously I will be available to play, prepared. I want to play, but he [Solís] is doing very well and I have to respect his moment. We have to compete in the best way, we are good teammates, we get along very well and from my part, try to always be ready", he added upon his arrival from Huancayo (after the victory against 'Rojo Matador').

The coach's word

Last Sunday, Sporting Cristal defeated Sport Huancayo 2-1 and, with this result, reached 31 points in the Torneo Apertura. And although the first goal of the season was conquered by Alianza Lima, there are details to highlight in Tiago Nunes' team, mainly their continuity both locally and internationally (they have been undefeated for eight matches).

In this regard, the Brazilian coach mentioned last weekend that the final goal is still within reach. "This tournament ends in November; every point earned, especially in difficult places, I think we can make a good contribution to the entire season and at the end of the year it can be important in the search for the title", he stated.
