This Thursday, the Peruvian Football Federation officially announced the arrival of Emily Lima, former football player and current Brazilian coach, as the new head coach of the Peruvian Women's National Team. It was also announced that the coach will have an all-female coaching staff to take on this important challenge.

"Emily Lima is the new coach of the women's national team to develop the plan outlined by the Peruvian Football Federation aiming at the growth of women's football," reads the publication made through the 'blanquirroja' social media.

"Women's football is my life and the life of the entire coaching staff walking with me, we come with great enthusiasm to work. We must change the mindset of the players, but also of the people who will work closely with us. By working together, we will achieve our goals and gradually change women's football," commented the new coach for the Peruvian Football Federation.

In her new role, Emily Lima will have the responsibility of establishing guidelines and work methodologies that will cover the U17 and U20 categories, which will be under the supervision of coach Conrad Flores.

On the other hand, Lima added: "Women's football in general has been growing very quickly and we cannot be left behind. This year we have the FIFA Women's World Cup and surely all the records of the 2019 World Cup will be broken, thanks to all the support that exists today towards women's football, the leaders no longer see it as an obligation but as an investment."

Experience as a coach:

Emily Lima started her career as a footballer, representing the clubs São Paulo and Napoli. After retiring, she studied management in Spain to develop women's football projects in Brazil.

Her first steps on the sidelines were at Portuguesa, where she worked as an assistant coach. Subsequently, she coached the women's teams of Juventus, São Caetano, São José, São Paulo, and Santos, winning a total of seven titles and the runner-up of the Women's Copa Libertadores with Santos.

At the national team level, Emily Lima coached the U15 and U17 categories of the Brazilian national team. In 2016, she was appointed head coach of the Brazilian senior team, becoming the first woman to coach a national team in Brazil and hold this position. Under her leadership, the 'canarinha' won the International Tournament of Nations.

In 2019, she was hired by the Ecuadorian national team, taking on a project to evolve women's football. She coached the senior team as well as the U17 and U20 categories.
