Alianza Lima is one day away from starting a new participation in the Libertadores Cup and this year the blanquiazules fans have great expectations because the national champion has reinforced itself with big names. However, there is a bad streak of no wins in the competition since 2012.
This Monday, José Soto, coach of the last Alianza Lima team that won in the Libertadores, spoke in an interview with the program Fútbol como Cancha de RPP Noticias.
"Alianza Lima has to get rid of the burden it has carried since 2012. It has to win at least one game in the Libertadores Cup," said Soto, who believes that the 2023 version of Alianza can play on equal terms with any opponent.
"Alianza Lima can play against any opponent. Tomorrow they have to go out and play without complexes, on equal terms," he added.
Optimistic about Alianza Lima
"This Alianza Lima squad is mature, it has national team players and players of hierarchy. They know they have the pressure to win in the Cup, but I think they are calm," Soto said about the íntimo team that counts Christian Cueva, Carlos Zambrano, Bryan Reyna, and Gabriel Costa as its national figures.
The foreign legion of Alianza is made up of Argentinians Hernán Barcos, Santiago García, and Gino Peruzzi. There are also Colombians Pablo Sabbag and Andrés Andrade.
