When was the last time Christian Cueva played for Alianza Lima? [VIDEO]

'Aladino' wore the white and blue shirt between August 2014 and July 2015, at just 23 years old.

In august 2014, Christian Cueva returned to Peru, from Spain, to wear the colors of Alianza Lima. What was it that called him? We knew he was a 'blanquiazul' fan, that he had not achieved the continuity he expected at Rayo Vallecano and, with the Copa América approaching, making Matute his home was not a crazy idea.

He arrived as a reinforcement to face the Torneo Clausura 2014 and although for many it was a setback in his career, 'Aladino' managed to dazzle everyone week after week. He scored three goals and provided five assists in 15 matches played during the tournament, records that gave Alianza the lead alongside Sporting Cristal (in the tiebreaker the 'celestes' won).

In 2015 things went better than expected. Cueva was decisive for the 'íntimos' to reach the final of the Torneo de Verano; on that occasion they would lose 3-1 to Vallejo. However, by then the relationship with Sanguinetti was not the best.

With a start of the Torneo Apertura to be forgotten, the connection with the fans was lost and he was suspended for six matches (finally three) against Real Garcilaso for trying to prevent the referee from showing his teammate a red card. The Copa América 2015 was an oasis in Cueva's year, where he showed what he was made of.

Last match of Cueva with Alianza Lima

Already with one foot out of Alianza, on July 12, 2015, Christian played 20 minutes in the 3-0 victory against Unión Comercio. He came on for Gabriel Costa, when the match was already decided. He had a clear goal opportunity, however, the shot lacked power and direction. Days later, his signing for Toluca would be official.
