Christian Cueva and his desire to play for Alianza Lima: "I would love for it to happen"

While most Peruvian players playing abroad are starting to define their future for 2023, Christian Cueva is one of those who currently doesn't have a club. The 31-year-old midfielder recently left Al Fateh and since then, he has not been able to find a team, despite the interest shown by Alianza Lima.

Lamentably, the situation the player is going through is not one of the best, after being fined 7 million dollars by FIFA, following his legal issues with Santos from Brazil. This situation delayed his possible arrival to La Victoria and for now, without a clear destination, he spends his days in Peru.

Exactly during the last few hours, he was seen leaving Trujillo - where he had been spending his vacations with his family - towards Lima. Before entering the airport, Cueva briefly talked with 'Best Cable' and left a message to the Alianza fans who once dreamed of his return.

"At some point, I hope to play for Alianza Lima, it's my dream. My career hasn't ended yet and undoubtedly I would love for it to happen," said the '10' of the Peruvian National Team, emphasizing the possibility of once again wearing the colors of the 'Íntimo' team.

Let's remember that Cueva played for Alianza Lima between 2014 and 2015, where he played 41 games and scored 10 goals. After his brief stint at the Alejandro Villanueva stadium, the midfielder born in Huamachuco went to Toluca in Mexico and continued his career abroad.

If there hasn't been any mention of the possibility of signing Cueva again in Alianza, the club's sports director, José Bellina, was clear and mentioned during the 'Tarde Blanquiazul' that the interest exists, but everything is subject to the player first being able to resolve his legal issues and become completely free.

"I think Christian's case is complex, but I also think it's feasible. It depends much more on timing than anything else. He's in a process of resolving the contract and then there's the lawsuit with Santos. We're waiting to see how the situations develop. And if it's possible, hopefully," said the person in charge of the sports matters of the blanquiazules a couple of weeks ago.
