The Telework Law 2023 can influence 'digitalizable' jobs

The Telework Law 2023, which will come into effect on January 1st, may have an impact on 'digitalizable' jobs. With the goal of returning to in-person work, this law will benefit those who can fulfill their obligations remotely or in 'home office'. Find out the most important details below.

What is the Telework Law in Peru?

According to the stipulations in Diario El Peruano (Law No. 31572), the state order for 'remote work' will expire on December 31st and will pave the way for 'telework'. Companies will have to comply with the regulations for work from home, and they will also have to support employees in covering their expenses for services (such as electricity and internet consumption) and work tools if necessary.

"Employers, including public entities, should sign an agreement for employees to work partially or entirely from home," labor lawyer Jorge Toyama Miyagusuk mentioned to the media.

Will the company cover my electricity and internet expenses under the Telework Law?

According to the law, starting on January 1st, companies must agree with their employees on the expenses to cover for the energy resources (such as electricity and internet) used under the 'home office' modality. This point is imperative in the new Telework Law for 2023.

After the 60 business days since the law was published, companies will have to comply with the new regulations. "Telework is beneficial for the worker because it allows them to save many hours of commuting in traffic, as well as the cost of transportation, and it also allows them to balance work and family life," explained the Minister of Labor, Eduardo García, to RPP radio station.

What are the benefits of the Telework Law?

The benefits of Telework in Peru are multiple, for both workers and employers. Workers will have a short or 'no' commuting time to their workplaces, there will be greater psychological well-being being close to family and being able to spend more quality time.
