Melgar disputes the first final of the League 1 in Arequipa and although they had complications against Alianza Lima, they managed to take the lead. The goal at the Monumental de la UNSA was scored by Yordi Vílchez, in his own goal, after Bernardo Cuesta's great individual play.
Around the 74th minute at the Monumental de la UNSA Stadium, the team led by Pablo Lavallén advanced patiently and Luis Iberico, on the left, was enabled. The national forward withstood Gino Peruzzi's tackle and although he didn't keep the ball, the rebound favored 'Berni'.
Bernardo Cuesta controlled the ball, went straight to the area, outpaced Pablo Míguez and, after reaching the goal line, crossed the ball back. Martín Pérez Guedes was going to be the recipient of the ball, but Yordi Vílchez managed to anticipate him, without good fortune: he ended up scoring in his own goal, to the regret of Ángelo Campos.
For now, the Arequipa institution takes the lead towards the title of the 1st Division. Remember that Alianza Lima and Melgar will face each other again on Saturday, November 12, in the second leg, at the Alejandro Villanueva Stadium in Matute (8:00 p.m.).
How is the champion of League 1 2022 defined?
The first criterion to define the champion between Alianza Lima vs. Melgar is the number of points in the finals: the team that wins one match and draws the other will receive the title. If each club has obtained a victory, the team that has scored more goals will receive the trophy (away goals do not have extra value).
If the tie persists (also in case of draws in both matches), the match will go directly to penalty shootout. There are no extra times.
