This weekend, Sporting Cristal and Universitario will face off at the National Stadium, for matchday 15 of the Clausura Tournament, and the result could change the panorama in the standings. The match is of great relevance and CONAR has decided to designate experienced Kevin Ortega, FIFA referee, to officiate.
Through its official channels, the entity announced the selection of the 30-year-old referee for the crucial match, while Michael Orué and Jesús Sánchez will be his assistants. This time, Sebastián Lozano will fulfill the role of fourth official.
Recall that the last match Kevin Ortega officiated was on Tuesday, October 4, when César Vallejo defeated Alianza Lima 3-2. In that match, five yellow cards were shown.
On the other hand, the referee was present in a Sporting Cristal clash on July 31 of this year, in the goalless draw against Alianza Lima, at the National Stadium, for the fifth round of the Clausura Tournament (six yellow cards in total).
And in the case of Universitario, Kevin Ortega was the main referee in the match against Atlético Grau on September 17, which ended with a victory for the 'Cremas' at the Monumental: goals by Alberto Quintero and Hernán Novick. That day, five players were booked.
When do Sporting Cristal vs. Universitario play?
Universitario will seek to break that streak and will aim to add three points against Sporting Cristal (if they do so, they would shorten the distance to one point in the Clausura standings). The match is scheduled for this Sunday, October 9th, starting at 3:30 p.m. at the Nacional stadium. The broadcast will be handled by GOLPERU.
