It is official the new destination of Miguel Trauco. The side of the Peruvian National Team signed a contract until the 2023 season with an option for 2024 with the San Jose Earthquakes, as announced by the Major League Soccer (MLS) club.
"He has played in the most important leagues in Peru, Brazil, and France, represented his country in the last World Cup, and plays in a position of need after the transfer of Marcos López to Feyenoord. We are excited to welcome him to our club and introduce him to our fans," says the official statement from the club.
"Miguel has a very high level of experience both for the club and the country," said Earthquakes General Manager Chris Leitch.
This will be the third team, abroad, that Miguel Trauco defends in his career, since - in addition to Saint-Étienne - he played for Flamengo (Brazil), a team in which he was able to share dressing rooms with Paolo Guerrero. In addition, in the Peruvian league, the right-back played for Union Comercio and Universitario de Deportes.
He was a fundamental piece within the Peruvian National Team, especially during the time when Ricardo Gareca was the coach of Peru. In total, the defender played 67 matches with the 'Blanquirroja' (66 in the Gareca era) and provided a total of 5 assists (did not score goals).
It should be noted that Trauco ended his contract with the French team, so he arrived as a free player to the team that had his teammate, Marcos López.
