It is a great truth that Peruvian athletes from other disciplines do not receive the necessary support to cover the expenses that a tournament, especially international, demands. This is the case of Steven, a young chess player, who does not have sufficient sponsorship to represent Peru in the 2022 Chess World Championship.

"I have been playing chess internationally since I was 7 years old, I have brought several achievements for Peru, but I do not have sponsorship now. The Federation has told me that they do not have the necessary resources to support, that is why my dad is looking for means," he declared to Buenos Días Perú.

To alleviate this difficult situation, the family members of the talented athlete have organized different activities such as chicken dinners. "We are trying to reach out to private companies, my son has the title of international master, he has won medals since he was eight years old. His last tournament was in Uruguay," the parent said.

The essential part of their request is the price of the ticket, which amounts to 3,000 dollars per athlete. "They have accommodation, food, transportation," he explained. For any financial support, you can call the number 915 203 9457.
