The parabadminton player was excited about receiving the award given by the Peruvian Institute of Sport.
The parabadminton player Giuliana Poveda received the Laureles Deportivos in the Grado de Gran Cruz from the Peruvian Institute of Sport (IPD) at the Estadio Nacional.
"I am truly proud, very grateful to God for blessing me greatly, and at the same time, I am very excited to see my name at the Estadio Nacional," said the sportswoman at the José Díaz stadium.
Poveda received the recognition from the IPD for obtaining the Gold Medal at the BWF Para-Bádminton World Championship 2019, held from August 20 to 25, 2019, in Basel, Switzerland.
Let's remember that the Laureles Deportivos del Perú are the highest honorary reward that the Nation gives to those who have distinguished themselves exceptionally in the practice, work, or direction of sports.
This award is a competition of the Superior Council of Sports Justice and Honors (CSJDHD), which grants honors and distinctions to athletes, coaches, assistants of a national team, directors of National Sports Federations, the COP, and other organizations of the National Sports System; granting them the grade of Gran Cruz or Gran Oficial, depending on the merit they have achieved.
Objective: the World Championship
Giuliana Poveda has a clear objective: to continue being the world's top exponent in parabadminton. The Peruvian announced that her next competition will be in Tokyo during the month of November.
"There I will defend my world champion title that I won in Switzerland in 2019 and I believe that the medal will stay at home," she stated.
