Alliance Lima conflict over Matute's esplanade continues
No resignations. The conflicts over the Matute esplanade seem to have no end. After the Aposento Alta church invaded the Alianza Lima enclosure in 2018, at the beginning of 2021, the blanquiazul club announced that they won the trial and were declared owners of the disputed land.
However, the lawyer for the Christian congregation, Radiolfo Ramírez, emphasized that the issue has not yet ended, and they requested the victorian team to leave the property.
"The land is in dispute, the church is the owner of the property, it is registered in the Public Registry, and we are asserting that Alianza comply with vacating the property. There is a judicial process that is in the fourth civil court in order to resolve it almost definitively. It is a reclamation trial so that Alianza complies with vacating the property of lots 29 and 31," he mentioned in an interview with Radio Ovación.

Although the lawyer stated that they will seek to reconcile with the victorians, he stressed that the dispute does not involve the entire Alejandro Villanueva stadium. He also revealed that the Alianza team used the esplanade and never paid taxes.
"What is in conflict is not Alianza Lima's stadium, let that be clear, the problem is in the esplanade because the Government expropriated those lots in 1972 with the purpose of giving them a social end. However, Alianza has been using the property but has never paid a penny. The Municipality charges all property owners the property tax even though we do not have possession of the property. We have been fighting for years," he pointed out.
Alianza Lima's response
In response to the statements made by the legal representative of the Christian Church, Radiolfo Ramírez, the victorian institution replied and stated that they have been on the land for 40 years and have the recognition of the competent authorities.
Diego Guerrero, general and legal manager of Alianza, commented on the intentions of the Christian Church. "It is difficult to attribute veracity to what an institution that, apart from the investigation for money laundering, tried to violently, illegally, and irrationally seize the property of Alianza Lima (2018) says. For this fact, a complaint was filed against Aposento Alto for the crime of aggravated usurpation. The background speaks for itself," he stated in a statement uploaded to the club's website.
