The Peruvian national team started their participation in the Futsal Down World Cup on the right foot. The 'Blanquirroja' defeated (4-1) Mexico in the first match of Group B, which took place at Videna in front of the national fans who cheered on the team.
From the start of the match, the 'Bicolor' came out determined to win. In that sense, Falcon became the standout player of the match by scoring twice, while Flores and Espino completed the scoreline with spectacular goals.
Now, the team coached by Giancarlo Zárate will face Portugal on Sunday at 8 p.m. (Peruvian time) for the second match and hopes to continue on the path of victory. After that, they will close their participation against Argentina.
On the other hand, it is important to remember that Group A is composed of Brazil, Chile, Turkey, and Uruguay. These teams also show great participation and are fighting to achieve the desired world championship.
Futsal Down World Cup
The Futsal Down World Cup will be played until April 10th and it is the first time it is organized in Peru. Previously, the championship was held in Russia (2016) and Brazil (2019).
Regarding this, Gissely Alvarado, founder and president of the Down Collective, expressed her excitement for the competition. "We are very happy and excited that Peru is the host of this important international competition, so we hope that Peruvians experience this World Cup, support our team, and see the multiple abilities of children with Down Syndrome, who, like all of us, strive to achieve all their goals," she said during the group draw.
