As it is known, Sport Chavelines did not achieve the long-awaited promotion to the First Division of Peruvian football. They lost to Carlos Stein in the playoffs, so they will face the 2022 season in Liga 2. Despite the players' efforts, the team's presidency has not fulfilled its promise regarding monthly payments.

"We want to express our dissatisfaction with the non-compliance of fully canceling our monthly payment for the second phase tournament 2021. Currently, we are owed 5 months of salary and incentives agreed upon with the Club's president, Jean Acevedo”, reads a part of the statement from the players and coaching staff of Sport Chavelines.

As if that were not enough, this statement indicates that there are players who had to return part of their payments to the board so that the rest of their teammates could be paid. This was done with the intention of preventing Sport Chavelines from losing points in Liga 2 and continuing the ascent battle.

Despite this generosity from the players, the presidency has not refunded them and continues to owe the players and coaching staff for the months missed.

"To this day, we are still waiting for the payment of our salaries that we have earned with a lot of effort, and we only receive negative responses from the president", continues the statement.

In addition, it has been learned that President Jean Acevedo is currently involved in a political campaign and, therefore, has not had time to address the players and coaching staff's grievances.

When does Liga 2 2022 begin?

According to several Liga 2 clubs, the Second Division of Peruvian football starts in March, so many teams will begin their preseason in February.
