In the preview of the match between Peru and Venezuela for matchday 14 of the Qatar 2022 Qualifiers, the former coach of the Vinotinto, Richard Paez, analyzed what will be the match this Tuesday 16 in Caracas. The 67-year-old strategist pointed out that, while the Venezuelan national team has not had good results in the qualifying process, the challenge is for Ricardo Gareca's team, due to the more than two decades without a victory in the llanero country.
“These are the matches that bring the end of the qualifiers closer and this means getting closer or moving away. Peru must break the 24-year history of not winning here, in Venezuela, and the Vinotinto must appeal to pride. It's about playing to fulfill and maintain professionalism,” said Paez in statements to Radio Ovación.
The former coach of Alianza Lima also commented that his country's poor campaign towards Qatar is the fault of the leaders. “We regret in Venezuela that we finished last again, despite having internationally recognized players. The national team has a strong organizational disorder. It has had two coaches, everything is done wrong. There is a lot of nonsense. Venezuela is left with nothing due to the managerial inability,” he said.

As a result of this, the Venezuelan coach highlighted the work that has been done in our country with the continuity of the coaching staff. “It worked in Peru because Gareca and Oblitas are football men. In South American federations, the main mission is to choose a coaching staff,” he concluded.
