Argentina vs. Peru: Troglio considers Peru a tough rival
Just one day before the Argentina vs. Peru match in Buenos Aires for the Qatar 2022 Qualifiers, former footballer Pedro Troglio, a key player in Argentina's national team that was runner-up in the 1990 World Cup in Italy, considered Peru as a "tough" opponent for Lionel Messi's Albiceleste's aspirations to qualify for the World Cup.
"For Peru, it's a complicated and very careful commitment because Argentina is playing very well and because they are playing at home. But this is football and anything can happen. Peru has always played great matches in Argentina, even against fantastic versions of Argentina. I always consider them a tough rival," stated Troglio on the radio program 'Fútbol como Cancha'.
Tomorrow, the 'Blanquirrojo' team led by Argentine Ricardo Gareca will seek to earn three crucial points for the first time in history against the team led by the Rosario-born superstar Lionel Messi in the closing of this triple round of the Qatar 2022 Qualifiers.
"Peru has always had technically talented players. All teams that play against Argentina build a short defensive block. What worries Argentina about Peru is that they have technically skilled players. What Gareca added to the national team was that aggressiveness needed to compete at the international level," pointed out the current Olimpia coach in the Honduran National Football League.
Currently, the Peruvian national team is in seventh place in the Qatar 2022 Qualifiers with 11 points. Their next opponent will be Argentina at the Monumental Stadium in Buenos Aires for matchday 12, starting at 18:30 (Peruvian time). Brazilian referee Wilton Pereira will officiate this crucial match.
